How Do I Select The Right Weight For Me?

As a general rule, you should choose a blanket that’s approximately 10% of your body weight. We encourage you to test out different weights in our stores, however, as personal preference will inform your final purchase decision.

If you require a weighted blanket for medical reasons, we encourage you to consult your physician occupational therapist for advice. Among adults, our 15lbs blanket is our best selling blanket, while our 10lbs blanket is the most popular with older children and teens.

For children it is important to use the guidelines suggested by occupational therapists, 10% of body weight plus 1 pound. This formula provides therapeutic benefits and prevents the child from feeling stuck under their blanket.

How Big Are Our Weighted Blankets?

Our weighted blankets don’t follow traditional bed sheet sizings. That’s because they’re not just intended to be used in the bedroom. They can be folded across your lap while watching TV, taken in the car on rides, spread out on the couch for naps, and so much more.

Our weighted blankets range from 78” x 48” (198 cm x 122 cm) to 80” x 86” (203 cm x 218 cm). Our single person blanket is a personal blanket, and covers roughly the area of a twin bed. We don’t make full or queen size blankets because the excess spread would be wasted on the bed. Ideally our blanket should cover from your chin to over your feet.

How Do I Wash My Weighted Blanket?

How To Wash The Outer Removable Cover
Open the zipper and remove the inner weighted blanket. The outer cover can be washed in your machine on a cool, gentle cycle. Use a small amount of liquid detergent taking care that you do not use any bleach or whitening agent. Tumble dry on a cool setting. Before the outer cover is completely dry, take it out of the dryer and hang to complete the drying process.

How To Wash The Inner Weighted Blanket
Unzip the outer cover and remove the inner weighted blanket. The inner weighted blanket can be washed in your machine on a cool, gentle cycle. Use a small amount of liquid detergent taking care that you do not use any bleach or whitening agent. Tumble dry on a cool setting. Before the inner weighted blanket is completely dry take it out of the dryer and hang to complete the drying process. Regular vacuuming of the Dream Away blanket using a handheld attachment during your regular cleaning cycles at home is a also an easy way to remove dust and allergen build up.
